Visions Gallery Juried Exhibition

The other Gicleé photograph that made it into the exhibition at the Visions Gallery is called "Woman of Light". (See prior blog about the exhibition.) This was photographed at an old chateau in Pierrefonds, France, as the morning light was moving across the courtyard. I was sitting in the shade waiting to see if the light would change for the better. Photography depends upon good light, so when you find a special spot that means something to you, be patient and wait for favorable light before photographing..!
The sun came out and lit her up quite beautifully. My particular process of slow speed film, 6x7 negative and slight movement created the radiant spreading of light that I was wanting. It only lasted a few moments before clouds moved overhead. I like this photograph as there is both detail and texture in the stone, yet the soft impressionistic quality at the same time. She seems to embody an aspiration toward divine illumination.
